Once upon a Wednesday | Nifty Fifty

Jodie's been catching up on some photography courses this past week and she sent me a message yesterday to say that she's so grateful I recommended the 50mm lens to her some 3 years ago. Her message reminded me of how I fell in love with this unassuming piece of kit, hook, line and sinker.

I hired it first off and the minute it arrived, it was on my camera and when I took the first shot and checked the display, I knew this was a no brainer and that I had to have it. The hire lens spent 3 days with me and I just about captured anything and everything with it during it's short stay. If my memory serves me correctly, I'd ordered my own before the hire one had settled back into it's protective black velvet bag ready for returning.

I don't think I've ever read a poor review for this little lens that is nick-named the nifty 50. It's light, it's compact and so many of my favourite images have been captured with this lens. And the price is palatable too. A nifty piece of glass indeed.
