Once upon a Wednesday | A wish or a weed?
A few weeks back I was scouting out a location for a maternity shoot and came across this pretty dandelion clock.
Not for the first time, I pondered the wonder of nature and it made me curious about this yellow flowered plant. Did you know that there are about 100 species of dandelion and that its name is derived from the French “dent de lion” – lions tooth and refers to the serrated leaves? And that they don’t need to be pollinated to form seed and they are high in calcium, iron, and vitamins A and C?
The dandelion is the only flower that represents the 3 celestial bodies of the sun, moon and stars. The yellow flower resembles the sun, the clock resembles the moon and the dispersing seeds blown by gusts of wind resemble the stars.
It’s also said that if you mow dandelions, they’ll grow shorter stalks to spite you!
But tell me, do you see a wish or a weed?
